Sean Saint

Chief Executive Officer

Sean is responsible for assembling the corporate team and managing day-to-day operations of the Company. He has more than 20 years of engineering experience in medical devices and various startups. Sean is living with Type 1 diabetes and is well-known in the diabetes community.

Prior to starting Companion Medical, Sean worked as Director of Advanced Technology and Mechanical Engineering at Tandem Diabetes Care, Co-Founder and Vice President of R&D at Alure Medical, Engineering Manager at Dexcom, and Senior Engineer at Medtronic/AVE. Sean has 175 issued and pending patent applications.

Sean holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.

Mike Mensinger

Chief Technology Officer

Mike is responsible for strategic product development. Mike has more than 14 years of engineering experience in medical devices.

Prior to starting at Companion Medical, Mike held various positions at Dexcom. His 13-year tenure included time as the Director of Software Development. In that position, he led the mobile medical app and cloud software research and development teams. Mike brings a long list of successful diabetes projects, including Dexcom G5 Mobile – the first direct to phone glucose monitor, Dexcom Share – the first real-time remote continuous glucose monitoring system, the first CGM integration with Apple Health and the first approved class 3 Apple Watch app.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Delaware. Mike has more than 70 issued and pending patent applications.

Jasper Benke

Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and Clinical Affairs

Jasper joined Companion Medical in 2015 and has led all aspects of quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and clinical affairs. Jasper has more than 20 years of experience in the medical device industry across multiple clinical spaces with an emphasis on emerging technologies and start up ventures.

He has implemented and scaled US and international regulatory strategies, FDA and ISO quality systems, and clinical program management for multiple companies later acquired by Medtronic, Smith and Nephew, LivaNova, and Colson and Associates.

Jasper holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Collin Valentine

Vice President of Operations

Collin joined Companion Medical in 2017 and has served as Vice President of Operations since January 2019. He is responsible for leading Companion Medical’s Operations team overseeing process development, manufacturing, and supply chain.

Collin has over 20 years of experience in the medical device and biotechnology industries including Dexcom, CoreValve, and Obalon. He has been instrumental in launching several commercial products in the U.S. and internationally.

Collin holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

Vice President of Finance

Stephen joined Companion Medical in 2019 and leads the accounting and finance functions.

Stephen is a Certified Public Accountant with a background in public accounting with PwC and healthcare services with OurHealth.

Stephen holds a Bachelors and Masters in Accounting from Butler University.

Tony Galliani

Tony Galliani

Vice President of Sales

Tony leads Companion Medical’s nationwide sales team. He has worked in the diabetes medical device industry for over 20 years and most recently was the Area Sales Director for the eastern US at Tandem Diabetes Care. Prior to Tandem, Tony held various positions at Minimed and Animas, a Johnson & Johnson Company.

Tony brings expertise in new product launches as he has been part of sales organizations that have launched almost 20 new products in the diabetes space.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.

Karen Hynes

Vice President of Marketing

Karen joined Companion Medical in April 2020. She is responsible for leading the marketing strategy, branding and public relations efforts.

Karen has more than 15 years of marketing experience in the healthcare and diabetes medical device industries including Senseonics, Dexcom and UC San Diego Health. Earlier in her career, Karen spent more than a decade at several advertising and digital agencies managing various clients including Princess Cruises, Memorex, Lockheed Martin, CIGNA HealthCare and Canon.

Karen earned her MBA at San Diego State University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Connecticut.

Kevin Meinert

Vice President, Business Operations

Kevin is responsible for building out scalable commercial and business operations and creating the foundation for internal corporate functions. After 10 years growing companies in tech, he decided to pursue a role that was personally impactful. Kevin is living with Type 1 Diabetes, which he has successfully managed for more than 25 years.

Prior to joining Companion, Kevin spent a decade in the tech industry, as a Partner and EVP at MaxCDN.com, a global Content Delivery Network. He led business operations with consistent month-over-month growth and profitability, through a successful exit to StackPath.com, a large Private Equity backed company.

Kevin is an active member of the California Bar. He finished his (J.D.) law degree at Pepperdine University and received his degree from Willamette University College of Law. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Economics from The University of Oregon.

Jason Lewis

Vice President of Market Access

Jason joined Companion Medical in February 2020. He is responsible for leading market access strategy, payer relations, pricing and contracting.

Jason has more than 20 years of experience in market access roles in the diabetes medical device industry inclusive of Johnson & Johnson / LifeScan, Baxter Healthcare, Dexcom, and Senseoncis. Earlier in his career, Jason practiced as a critical care and neonatal pharmacist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in addition to working as an Investigational Drug Pharmacist and Institutional Review Board member at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Prior to his career move to the diabetes medical device industry, Jason worked as a Pharmacy Benefit Consultant at Highmark BCBS.

Jason earned his BS of Pharmacy at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health and his MS in Health Care Policy and Management for the H.J. Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University.
